“ Directed by NIYADRE, the Taboo fragrance campaign is an experimental exploration of the connection between scent and memories. Cinematic and captivating, the video follows a protagonist as he reflects on a past lover, the scent reigniting a forgotten spark. In a traditionally heteronormative space, NIYADRE places a queer love story at the centre of the short film, offering something fresh, representative, and beautiful.
‘I wanted to take a risk and approach it with subtle sophistication, avoiding clichés typical of most perfume ads,’ the director shares. ‘For Taboo, my intention was to craft a beautiful short film that so happens to have a perfume bottle and two gay men in it, deviating from the exaggerated and unrelatable norms often associated with these types of ads.’ “
